FORUM FOR MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE STUDIES IN IRELAND
FORUM UM LÉANN NA MEÁN-AOISE AGUS AN RENAISSANCE IN ÉIRINN
Óenach: Journal of the FMRSI
Welcome to Óenach, the Journal of the Forum for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in Ireland (FMRSI). The Journal will be accompanied by a Review Section.
Óenach is a peer-reviewed, blind-reviewed digital publication, associated with the FMRSI’s online activities, and sharing its objectives and broad scholarly field: “Medieval and Renaissance” is intended in its broadest and most inclusive sense: from Late Antique to Early Modern, and covering that period or its equivalent in all parts of the world.
As our field (broadly speaking) is often characterised by a slow turn-around time and consequent slowness in pace, and in the interests of intellectual re-invigoration, Oenach specialises in shorter articles. Most of our articles will be in the form of “notes”: building, for example, on material presented recently at colloquia and conferences, or as postgraduate course-work.
It will be entirely searchable from this site (via the “Issues” menu to your right; or using the “Search” box below that; and within each issue); published work will be available here both in HTML and in PDF forms.
The Forum’s online publication network will comprise:
- Óenach: Journal of the FMRSI
- Óenach: FMRSI Reviews
- The Village Green: Comments, Notes, and other Marginalia (on the FMRSI)
Last but not least: why “óenach”?
